Why the Old Testament Is Not Optional

In the second century, a teacher named Marcion argued the Church should drop the Old Testament entirely, along with most of the New. The Church rejected him, decisively, and for reasons that still matter.

What we would lose

Without the Old Testament, we lose the God who made covenants, the exodus that shapes every later act of redemption, and the prophets whose hope Jesus fulfills rather than replaces.

The Old Testament is not the Bible we grew out of. It is the Bible we grew into.
